I played the saxophone in my high school marching band and jazz band. First chair.
Whatâs the most fun youâve had on a trip or vacation?
When my wife and I went to Maui with my brother and sister in-law, and my sister and brother in-law. Non-stop fun in the sun. We love the beach and the ocean.
What are you most proud of accomplishing in your life, NOT professionally, so far?
Becoming a United States Marine.
What does a perfect weekend look like to you?
Having our families visit our new lake house. Fishing, hiking, and just enjoying the calmness.

Say hey to Oliver Right!

Title/Role: Site Designer
Focus: Landscape & Planning
School: University of Arkansas
What are you most proud of accomplishing in your life, NOT professionally, so far?
When I was a sophomore in college, living with 3 other dudes, I accomplished a feat that I am incredibly proud of. I shot 23 under in Wii Sports Resort Golf. Now you might be asking, what kind of commitment might this take to accomplish? A LOT! For two months, every time I got home from class I logged straight on and played. If I were to guess, this took me a total of 250 hours to complete, and every hour was worth it. Huge shoutout to my roommates for believing in me.
As a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up and why?
When I was 4 years old, I was obsessed with trains. I would always tell my mom, âI want to be a train when I grow up.â Not a train conductor or a train mechanic, I wanted to âBE THE TRAIN.â Unfortunately, that never happened, but landscape architecture is cool too, I guessâŚ
What does a perfect weekend look like to you?
A perfect weekend for me would go as follows: head to the golf course Saturday morning, hit 4 hole-in-ones. Not 5, thatâs too braggadocious. On the way home stop at Ted Drews for a malt. I flip it upside down and it falls to the floor, get a free malt on the house. Later that evening I check my phone, Oli Marmol has been fired. Hallelujah! Saturday over. Sunday, watch football and root against every team because Iâm still spiteful about losing the Rams. Sunday night, post up at Tower Grove Park. End of an epic weekend.

Meet Hallie Nolan!
LJC Office: St. Louis
Title/Role: Urban Designer, Associate
Focus: Urban Design/Urban Planning
School: Bard College and Washington University
Affiliations: Urban Land Institute
What is something about you that you think would surprise your co-workers?
I played sports my whole life, including soccer, basketball, and lacrosse through college. Sports taught me the power of teamwork, discipline, and effective leadership. I also competed in a HYROX race in New York for my 30th birthday, which was a fun and humbling reminder that I still love a good challenge.
Whatâs the most fun youâve had on a trip or vacation?
Our Zion and Bryce Canyon trip was incredible. We lucked out on the permit lotteries and climbed Angels Landing, then hiked The Subway in Zionâs wilderness. Itâs an unmarked trail with dinosaur footprints, waterfalls, and rock formations like The Narrows but with almost no people around. We camped, hiked, and had the best time exploring both parks. Our next big trip will be to New Zealand to hike the Tongariro Alpine Crossing and visit Hobbiton.
What does a perfect weekend look like to you?
A perfect weekend usually starts with âWilbur walkiesâ to Blueprint Coffee with my husband and ends with good food and friends. Somewhere in between thereâs probably an estate sale, a hike, a new restaurant to try (most likely sushi), and in the fall â football Sundays. We like weekends with a mix of exploring, productivity, and relaxation.
What are you most proud of accomplishing in your life, professionally, so far?
Helping lead neighborhood planning projects in St. Louis that elevate resident voices and celebrate the cityâs identity. I care deeply about this city, its history, its architecture, and its future. Being part of shaping its next chapter means a lot to me.
What movie can you watch repeatedly? What makes it so special?
The Lord of the Rings, without question. My uncle introduced me to the books and movies when I was younger, and I have loved them ever since. I first read The Hobbit and became hooked on the story and reluctant adventure. I have watched the trilogy more times than I can count, especially during grad school when it became my comfort movie during late nights and stressful deadlines. It will forever be my comfort movie.

Say Howdy to Elias Vavaroutsos!
LJC Office: Chicago, IL
Title/Role: Associate
Focus: Architecture
School: University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign
Professional affiliations: AIA, Alzheimers Association of Illinois
Whatâs the most fun youâve had on a trip or vacation?
Exploring Machu Picchu, Cuzco and Peruâs Sacred Valley during a Traveling Fellowship in Architecture.
What are you most proud of accomplishing in your life, NOT professionally, so far?
Being happily married for 31 years and having 2 incredible daughters that surpass me in every way. Maintaining meaningful relationships despite the incredible sacrifice in family time that my architectural career has entailed.
What was your first job, and what is most memorable about it?
I worked in my familyâs restaurant for many years. My first job for someone else was as a sign painter while in high school, painting commercial signs for business vehicles and buildings. The owner was usually intoxicated by the time I would arrive at 7am; he would carry on detailed conversations and arguments with his dog while I painted. I never told my parents about his drinking because the pay was good. I learned to manage the business quickly and had a side business painting for a while after he retired.
As a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up and why?
A professional soccer player. I met a famous player (Karl-Heinz Garnitza) when I was in a youth training camp and he suggested to my family that they send me to train in Europe. That didn't happen! Years later, I was on a D1 collegiate track but chose architecture instead after the US outdoor soccer league folded.

Whatâs the most fun youâve had on a trip or vacation?
2019 Europe vacation with my brother and friends. We traveled to 6 countries: France, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Germany, Croatia, and Spain. I had a great time and great food.
What does a perfect weekend look like to you?
Sleeping in, having brunch, and going out with girlfriend and/or friends.
As a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up and why?
As a kid I wanted to be a baseball player. I enjoyed playing sports and enjoy the game.

Meet Brianna Keller!
LJC Office: Kansas City
Title/Role: Senior Associate/Project Architect
Focus: Interiors
School: University of Kansas, M. Arch
Professional affiliations: AIA, LEED
What does a perfect weekend look like to you?
A good balance of rest and activities to reset! An ideal weekend would start at a good local coffee shop, then spending time outdoors with my family â we love checking out the farmers market and/or taking a nice long walk in nature, followed by a homemade soup simmering on the stove for dinner!
What movie can you watch repeatedly? What makes it so special?
Iâm a sucker for a good, classic rom-com. I love watching âThe Holidayâ every year around the holidays.
As a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up and why?
I had a few ideas â architect being one of them! A veterinarian was another for my love of animals. As a kid, I used to build homes and other buildings for my barbie dolls. I would also sketch out floor plans of dream homes for my friends and family. Iâve always had a love for design and planning of spaces!
